Gaya Island Resort, perfect location for honeymoon

Gaya Island, or Pulau Gaya, is located within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park off the coast of Kota Kinabalu in Borneo. One of the famous resorts there is Gaya Island Resort. Besides the clear blue sea, the hillside which resides the resort is also breathtakingly beautiful.

Gaya Island Resort has 120 villas and two-bedroom suite. The interior of each villas and suites were designed to blend nature and elegance. The picturesque resort is perfect for honeymooners.

The facilities available at the hotel are swimming pools, conference rooms, shop and mini library. The swimming pool is equipped with floating cabanas, and there is even a wading pool for kids at the resort. Guests can have their refreshment at the pool bar. Their conference room can accommodate up to 100 people. It is perfect for conference, meetings and events. If the guests prefer to have outdoor events, it can be arranged at Tavajun Bay or the surrounding garden.

Guests are able to buy handicraft, souvenir and even Spa Village products at the resort’s shop called Chimes, which is located beside the reception area. For book lovers, they can relax at the cosy library, furnished with plush seats and vast collection of magazines and novels.

One of the famous facilities there is the spa. The spa, which is called Spa Village, is set amidst lush mangroves. The guests can enjoy their spa while appreciating the quiet and peaceful nature.

There are a variety of spa programs offered, from the specialised rice scrubs and masques of the Kadazandusun to the age-old practices of the Bajau sea nomads.

Furthermore, the guests can enjoy picnicking by the sea and the food will be prepared by the hotel’s staff.

While talking about food, let’s not forget about their restaurant, called The Fishermen. It is their main restaurant, available for all 3-course meals. Breakfast is served as buffet, and guest can order from the ala-carte menu for lunch and dinner.

This beautiful resort is accessible by boat from Sutera Harbour Jetty in Kota Kinabalu. The boat ride from the jetty takes about 45 minutes, but the trip will be worth as you will be greeted by the magnificent view of the villa by the hillside.
