Sabah Oriental Hotel, a 4 star hotel in the suburban setting of Kota Kinabalu offers a fantastic view of South China Sea, the islands namely Gaya Island and Manukan Island and Mount Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia. The hotel is located in the Business District of Kota Kinabalu and the distance from Kota Kinabalu International Airport is less than 7km, and driving distance is only about 10 minutes.

The hotel has 200 spacious rooms, including 8 suites with contemporary furnishing and modern facilities in each room, design for the guests’ comfort and relaxation. The room types are different according to the room size and beds. There are Superior Rooms, Deluxe Rooms and Junior Suites available at the hotel. All the rooms are large. You have a choice of either the fan or the air condition in each room which is good because sometimes some people cannot take the air-condition coldness due to their arthritis and the fan is a good option for natural air.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The wide spread of food during breakfast are given thumbs up by the guests staying there. The sauna and gym, both facilities provided by the hotel are another plus for staying at the hotel.

Room amenities include iron/ironing board, coffee and tea making facilities, ASTRO TV channels, controlled air-conditioner, controlled ceiling fan, mineral water, robes, hairdryer, minibar, in-room safe, morning newspapers, telephone (IDD), 220-240 volt adaptor, baby crib upon request, and Wi-Fi that is chargeable at MYR10 nett for 24 hours usage.

The hotel offers wide range of facilities to meet the demands and needs of the guests. The said facilities are: left luggage facilities, free valet service, currency exchange, baby-sitting, credit card facilities, laundry services, 24-hour on-call doctor, swimming pool, gym, sauna, business centre and shuttle service to the city. The swimming pool is not very large but is good enough for a morning or afternoon swim.

For business and corporate customers, this hotel is a perfect choice. The Business Centre is fully outfitted with the latest hi-tech equipment and provides full secretarial services.  Not only for business, the hotel is also perfect for meetings, conferences, weddings or any other events. The Raya Ballroom is suitable for those occasions as it can comfortably accommodate up to 450 people in theatre style or 320 people in banquet style. For smaller groups, there are variety of meeting rooms and boardrooms equipped with full audio-visual facilities.

The main restaurant, Café Oriental, provides a vast choice of food and beverage for all-day and “al-fresco” dining while Tapai Lounge offers a more relaxing atmosphere for those who wants light refreshments and Sunset Patio is the ultimate venue to enjoy your favourite cocktail. You may want to check out their Honey chicken wings which is mouth watering and very delicious at Tapai Lounge.

You can ride the shuttle service provided by the hotel 3 times a day. If you wish to take a taxi, it will cost about RM11 to get to Kota Kinabalu Waterfront and a mere 5 minutes ride.  Walking is the other alternative and if you walk, it is 15 minutes walk to the area. Do note that to take a taxi, the moment you get into the taxi, the metre starts running at RM10.

If you want to go Kota Kinabalu for business or leisure, then Sabah Oriental Hotel is an excellent choice. It is a hotel that prioritizes the guests comfort and ensures you to leave feeling satisfied. It is also a perfect stop-over after an exhausting climb of Mount Kinabalu, as you can leisurely soak yourself in the pool.
